There are three series of publications under IEEE umbrella—Journals, Transactions and Magazines. Magazines biased towards application, overall and system articles, and Transactions prefer partial algorithm and specific technical points. As far as the IEEE is concerned, the Magazine series has a higher impact factor than the first two. Many bigwigs talked about systems in Journal series, such as special technology systems in 5G and 6G. The readership is larger and the number of publications is much smaller than the first two. There are already three Transactions in the IEEE transportation field (TITS, TTE, TIV), and only this one is in Magazine series. According to the laws of other IEEE Magazines, this Magazine will become popular in the future. Few people know the new publication, and the competition is not fierce. Acceptance is equal to earn money.

I personally feel that journals from a big association in the industry or part ABC series are more influential, because for awards, evaluation, and resume, the readers or experts are usually from a wide field. The higher the level of an evaluation, the wider the judges’ major and the less they know about your direction. Even those unique publications in this field are not considered seriously. There are too many little SCI journals, which you can’t tell the good or bad. It is difficult to distinguish the quality of a journal from its name. The judges will not check the IF of the journals of your articles, but they can tell a mainstream publication from the association name of it at first sight. Try you best to submit to the journals of the major associations so that the judges will recognize it at a glance.

It took two months for the first review, and a resubmission was required. Then we resubmitted it and it was sent for a third review. A total of 6 months were spent to be accepted. The reviewers are quite responsible, and the comments are in place. They offered a lot of valuable suggestions, which are very helpful to improve the quality of the article. This is an IEEE’s regular journal and has very great name. In the future, the IF will surely rise up and it will become a major journal in the field. Just submit quickly as the competition in this new journal is not violent for now.

It took 8 months before my paper was accepted. This is a new journal of the IEEE Intelligent Transportation Society. It has only been present for a few years, so hasn’t made a great impact, but should become impactful in the future!

I previously submitted to IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Magazine, waited for six months, received minor revisions after review, and was ultimately rejected by the editor. Recently, IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Vehicles has been put on hold, and I submitted a bunch of papers to the editor. Suddenly, I remembered the situation with the ITSM journal I had previously submitted to. So I did some research online and found out that the editor-in-chief of TIV, wfy, was actually the founding editor of ITSM. This connection prompted me to investigate further, hoping that others are also paying attention to this journal.

It's really slow... It has been two months... still under review... I don't know if it is still in the second round this year. Should I send an email to ask if it has been sent for review?
