Almost all freely submitted manuscripts that have reached the publication requirements in terms of academic quality after peer review need to be returned to the authors for modification of their wording and formatting before publication. This may include compressing the length of the article, redesigning tables, improving the quality of illustrations, and limiting the use of irregular abbreviations. However, returning a manuscript to the authors for modification does not mean that the article has been accepted. The final acceptance of the article depends on whether the author's modifications to the critical content and wording of the article meet the requirements of the reviewers and editors. 

The materials typically returned to the authors for modification include the original manuscript, reviewers' comments, and a covering letter from the editor. Upon receiving the edited manuscript, the authors should carefully read the covering letter and the reviewers' comments. They should then consider whether they are able or willing to accept the suggestions from the reviewers or editors and make the necessary revisions. The likelihood of the article being accepted can be inferred from the response of the editor and reviewers to the revisions. 

Do not rush the revisions; read and understand the reviewers' questions carefully. Respond to each reviewer's comments individually; indicate specifically where changes have been made in the revised manuscript (page, lines); write to the editor to express gratitude for the suggested modifications and explain the reasons for any areas where changes have not been made
