The result was returned in two weeks, it was rejected directly. There were 2 reviewers, one accepted directly, and the second one said that the article lacked page numbers, and it was unprofessional. The introduction part was too much. Some parts of the content were lacking in references. It is not worthy of a journal with an impact factor of 14. The article was directly rejected. The reviewer avoided the heavy and took the light, and didn't mention the major achievements of innovation in the article. This is the standard of domestic journals. It took more than half a year.

Second manuscript. Required a round of major revisions and then just minor revisions for the second round of review (on average each round was ~40 days to get the comments from the reviewers).This time the two reviewers combined had over 20 comments (difficulty 5/5). The revisions were brutal with simulations, more experimental data, and adding additional imaging modalities for confirmation. Our paper was rejected by Nat. Methods and Nat. Photonics before we submitted here.

It is said that a well-known foreign brand submitted an article to this journal, and the editor of the journal was apparently flattered (they prefer to curry favor more than foreign journals and are more discriminatory towards domestic submissions), so the article was accepted without review. The well-known brand said they will never submit to this journal again, even if it is a rubbish journal, it should still go through the review process. This seems to be the mentality of many domestic journals, as if they have never seen the world and are eager to kneel and flatter the well-known brands (both domestic and foreign), which is extremely unattractive. Especially in recent years, their editorial department has organized a series of so-called outstanding young scientist special issues, which is really low. In the same journal, are the works of outstanding young scientists of higher quality? The current editor-in-chief, Professor Zhang Xicheng, was the former editor-in-chief of OL, and his famous saying at the time was that during his term, his group would not submit to OL, and if anyone insisted on submitting, they were not allowed to use his name. Unfortunately, he cannot change anything about Light. Looking at Light, it is easy for editorial board members (especially in the early stages, almost random) and those with connections to publish, and there are those who rely on this to become outstanding young scientists, haha. Although it seems that everyone in China now recognizes it (it feels like a community of interests pushing it), if you really pay attention to this journal, whether it is the quality of work or the professionalism of the editors, it is far worse than Optica (I actually think it is not as good as LPR, at least more fair), let alone compared to NC (although their editors everywhere boast of not accepting rejections from NC, haha). This is also why so many people oppose the Chinese Academy of Sciences' division and forcibly promote domestic journals. What is the nature of domestic journals? They only know how to ruin the rules.
