Esophageal cancer clinical direction, 4 months in total, although the journal has a low impact factor, it is not easy at all. Experience Sharing: Recently I submitted a review article on a retrospective cohort to the European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery as an Open Access article. The opinions of the four reviewers were not many, but quite positive, requiring major revisions. However, the chief editor felt that it did not meet the EJCTS's threshold. I estimated two reasons for this: first, the sample size was not large enough, although I spent a considerable amount of time collecting data, the effort of one person was ultimately too small; second, the idea was not timely enough, as I selected a clinically insignificant topic compared to the research of my supervisor. So I switched to ICVTS. I made two revisions based on the statistician's advice, and it was accepted in less than two months. My experience is as follows: 1. Both EJCTS and ICVTS, official journals of the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, have a similar level of difficulty in submission. Both journals receive a large number of submissions, but the acceptance rate is very low, around 10-20%. 2. The chief editor is responsible, while the reviewers are rigorous, strict, and professional. The language and formatting requirements are very high, and I feel that through the submission process, I have learned some new things. 3. ICVTS is similar to the journal Disease of the Esophagus. Although it does not have outstanding marks, it has high standards, ensuring the quality of articles in the professional field. It has a good reputation within the professional community and is recognized by peers, making it a journal worth trying. Although it is a bit regretful not to be published in EJCTS, I am already quite satisfied

However, there was a personnel adjustment in the middle and the deputy editor was changed from EJCTS to ICVTS. After waiting for another two weeks, the decision came out, asking to transfer the submission to ICVTS. Although the questions from the two reviewers were relatively easy to answer, the deputy editor emphasized some important aspects which made it a bit tricky. After making revisions and waiting for about two weeks, the results came out, asking for more revisions, and then resubmission. Also, I was asked to find language polishing after finishing the revisions, and finally, it was accepted. It was quite a journey. Altogether, it took about three and a half months. It feels like the requirements of this journal have become higher now

Experience sharing: Previously, the article I submitted to ATS was rejected after revision, so I switched to EJCTS. However, after a month, I received an email notifying me that it was not suitable for publication and suggesting that I submit it to IVCTS. After revising it, it was accepted in less than two weeks. I feel that the quality of the article is actually quite good, but it lacked a control group due to its retrospective nature. Personally, I think this may be to improve the quality of submissions to IVCTS and increase its Impact Factor
