It took almost half a year of back and forth, and there was not enough time before graduation to be cautious about submitting. It took more than two months from submission to review, and then another two months to receive the review comments. The editor gave two weeks to revise and complete the experiments, and after sending it back, it took another two months to receive a rejection email. The author was very dissatisfied, so they emailed the journal to appeal. The chief editor replied with suggestions to add more animal experiments, so it took another two months to add experiments. After resubmitting, it took two more months to decide to send it for review, and after another two months, the review comments came back and it was finally rejected.
