We had two papers recently accepted by NC; very happy. It is definitely nonsense to say that NC accepts mediocre papers. Our first article has some very novel idea, so everyone is very interested. We tried Cell, Neuron, and Nature Neuroscience over six years, and they all sent the paper to external review  but eventually rejected it. We then sent to NC, and it was rejected again. Reviewers of all these journals suggested some particularly difficult experiments. First ee didn't want to do these experiments, but after the rejection by NC, we decided to perform the experiments. Took another year and a half, and after we appealed to the journal it was sent out for review again. The paper had  a total of 5 reviewers through the whole process, and it was finally accepted. The other paper is also on something very novel. NC initially had three reviewers. After two years of repeated reviews and revisions, two reviewers were satisfied, but the third one would not accept the paper.We appealed to the editor and gave our rationales, so the editor found two more reviewers, who asked a lot of questions. After we added new experiments accordingly, the paper was finally accepted it. These two both challenged traditional views in the field, and because the ideas are so new, it is not difficult for journals to send them for external review, but the reviewers are always strict and ask a lot of questions. The questions raised by NC's reviewers are very relevant to our study and useful, showing that they are truly experts in the field. I feel that NC's editor is fair relative to the editors of the other journals and NC does not discriminate against Chinese people. I want to say it again: whoever says that NC is a mediocre journal, I totally don’t agree.

Last year, 240905 submissions were made, 0923 were sent for review, 1029 the review was completed, 1104 feedback was received, with one major revision, one rejection, and one minor revision.
