I had not encountered such nonsense as the so-called circle. Because of the submission, I have read some articles on Chemical Science. I personally feel that the quality of the articles is very high. They are not the valueless articles as said in the previous comments. I then realized that my article didn't cite any articles from Chemical Science, and I was so ashamed. I have decided to cite more articles in the future, hoping that the impact factor of this journal will reach 10 soon.

Although the impact factor of Chemical Science has not reached 10, but it has been regarded as the top three comprehensive chemistry journals in the field of chemistry along with Journal of the American Chemical Society and Angewandte Chemie. Some people say that ACS Catalysis is better than Chemical Science, which is totally bullshit. If you don't believe me, please ask the mainstream research groups around you. The impact factor of ACS Catalysis is higher, but it is only the sub-journal of ACS in catalysis, and its status is equivalent to the Journal of Organic Chemistry in organic (chemistry) and Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry in food chemistry. How can the status of such a sub-journal in a certain field be compared with the comprehensive publications in the field (of chemistry)? I personally think that the quality of articles on Chemical Science is very high, which is similar to Angewandte Chemie, which is slightly weaker than Journal of the American Chemical Society. Many friends said that this journal is not qualified, and has been a playground for the authorities, but I don’t think so. My research direction is biomedical materials. The manuscript was submitted to Chem. Sci. on November 7th, 2018. The editor is Professor Jihong Yu of Jilin University, who’s very good. The reviewers they looked for were professional. Comments returned in mid-December requiring a major revision. Two reviewers required a minor revision and a major revision. They returned their comments on January 11th, 2019 for our revisions, and gave their comments for further revisions on the 24th of the same month. The reviewer asked for minor revisions accepted directly, and the other reviewer asked for major revisions required a minor revision. At the same time, both reviewers gave an evaluation of top 5% and 9 points. Accepted successfully on February 19th, 2019, and the accepted manuscript was online on the 21st. After the revision, the quality of the manuscript has been greatly improved, and I have really learned a lot of within and beyond the major. I hope Chem. Sci. gets better and better!

Chemical Science is a junk journal. It is just a club of people who know each other. Everyone, do not submit to this journal! The editors are selected by “nepotism” and papers from people they know are easily accepted. For example, editor Michelle Chang and Mircea Dinca are former students of Daniel Nocera, the current editor-in-chief. Thomas Meade came from the same lab as Daniel Nocera. Our group submitted in July; it took nearly two months to receive comments from two reviewers: one asked for minor revision, the other suggested rejection. Just one paragraph in two months? The one who rejected the paper probably didn’t even read our paper, just saying that it was not novel because it was very similar to a published study. Actually, they are not the same at all. The editor didn’t read the references, and just rejected our manuscript. We wrote to the editor to explain that the paper mentioned by the reviewer is completely different from our work, and that the reviewer did not work responsibly. We have emailed the editor three times but have not got any reply. This editor is Christopher A Hunter from the Chemistry Department of Cambridge University. I will never submit to Chemical Science!

In the field of organic synthesis, Chemical Science is indeed more difficult than ACS Catalysis, possibly because Chemical Science is one of the top three comprehensive chemistry journals and also the flagship journal of the RSC. Submitted once in 23 years, with two reviewers, one of whom finished in one day... The last one gave a score of 9, while the other gave a score of 6. The 6 was probably from the one who finished quickly, without even finding a third reviewer. The deputy editor of a certain journal in Beijing directly rejected me, which made me furious. I originally wanted to appeal and scold the reviewers, but then I thought it would be a waste of time. I directly submitted to ACS Catalysis and was accepted in just over a month. I am impressed by the high standards of Chem Sci, where they can finish reviewing in just one day (finding reviewers on the first day and returning comments on the second day), clearly indicating negligence. The organic synthesis method article was initially submitted to JACS but was rejected after review. It was then submitted to Chem. Sci., where the review process was very fast. The article was submitted on August 28, 2024, and the review comments were received on September 14, 2024. Both were minor revisions, and the associate editor from Canada, Andrei Yudin, was very friendly. He suggested acceptance after minor revisions and recommended submitting the revised manuscript as soon as possible. After making the simple revisions, the manuscript was submitted and accepted just 2 days later! In the future, articles that are not accepted by JACS/Angew will continue to be submitted to Chem. Sci.
