First draft of the paper was submitted on June 29, 2012 and it was not accepted until December 2 after three revisions in the middle. It is more difficult to have a paper accepted here than in other journals, such as Carbohydrate Polymers. Seven reviewers raised nearly 70 questions, it took a month to complete the changes. The second draft also had four reviewers' opinions. Some people say that there are too many reviewers. I personally feel that there are few journals that can have a lot of influence factors.

This was a very bad submission experience. I submitted on 24.1.1 and waited 67 days to receive an email. One of the reviewers raised a question that had nothing to do with the paper, and I didn't know how to answer it. I emailed the editor to explain the situation, but the editor insisted on making revisions before resubmitting. After two months of hard work on revisions, it was resubmitted, and all the other reviewers agreed. There was only one reviewer who didn't understand the field but kept trying to make an impact by referencing highly cited papers and giving opinions like "under this imperfect review mechanism, any paper will have flaws." They didn't even understand the most basic symbols and requested definitions for them. Many engineering students learn this in their first semester, so I didn't understand why they were asking such questions. Every time I resubmitted, they would raise unrelated issues. The editor said I had to either revise again or submit to another journal, but I had to convince this reviewer first. This terrible experience took over 9 months and left me exhausted.

Reply to the question above: 1. Reviewers can find several relevant references in the reference list and fill in the contact information of the corresponding author, or the first author. External review results were rejected on 21-Sep-2022, with 34 comments from three experts. It can be revised and resubmitted.
After rewriting, it was resubmitted on 10-Nov-2022.
The review process ended on 25-Jan-2023, and it was directly accepted. The article processing charge is $775, which is not expensive.
I forgot about the online time, but it was quite fast.
