I saw many submission experiences that were quite tough when checking the posts, and I was also very nervous with my own submission~ I really forgot the specific time. The following is a rough process. I sent an email to the editorial office in early July, attaching an outline of the review, expanded abstract, and the author biography. An email was received in mid-July saying that the manuscript can be submitted. In early August (about 5th), the manuscript was submitted. A revision was required on October 8th. There were two reviewers, one required a minor revision and one required a major revision, the editor gave a template response requesting a self-examination of various contents and revise accordingly. On November 1st, it was resubmitted. On around November 10th, a revision was required. The original two reviewers accepted it, and the editor had 2 opinions. On November 26th, it was resubmitted. On around December 11th, it was accepted. In general, the submission is still very worrying and tough, especially after seeing the situation where many people said that the editor is very irresponsible for rejecting revised manuscript casually. I felt that the article is going to be rejected. Let's calm down and try hard to perfect my own manuscript, and there will always be rewarding. One more point: The review was submitted by myself. In addition, my supervisor is not that capable, with average strength and relationship. This review was done by me alone, and he didn't write a word or leave any comments. Therefore, you don't need to be discouraged if you are not in the authority’s group. In the end, I wish you all succeeding in publishing!

This year I submitted two articles to the journal. Let me share something with you, hoping it is helpful to everyone. At the beginning, I submitted an original research article to the journal. After more than a month, the reviewer's comments were given, one positive and one negative, and the editor rejected the manuscript. The reason was that I did not properly modify the article, and some of the content in the article was difficult to understand. Therefore, a reviewer directly rejected the manuscript without comments. The article was carefully revised and transferred to another journal with similar IF and it was accepted. After that, I submitted a review article to the journal, and reviewers were found over 2 months after submission. Fortunately, the review speed was relatively fast. After 2–3 weeks (a little over 3 months after submission), the reviewers gave comments, and both gave major revisions. The review comments were very pertinent and helpful to the improvement of the article. After one month of revision (note: the journal gives only 20 days for major revisions, I applied for an extension of the revision time), it was directly accepted. I had read some articles in this field in the journal, and the content quality was still good. Like the requirements of most journals, this journal focuses on the innovation and conformity of the articles. When energy journals are generally bullish, if you have a good article, you might as well try submission.

Recently, I submitted a paper on solar energy to AE. In my opinion, this journal is highly efficient and helpful. The submission to acceptance timeline is about one month. In addition, the reviewers provide a lot of constructive feedback, raise excellent questions, modify the language of the paper and format the references. The editor even provided some feedback, which was very appreciated. The only negative aspect of this journal is that there are very high requirements; formatting must be perfect and every detail needs to be in line. In October, the number of submissions was more than 8,000, and AE published more than 1,000 articles throughout the year.
