This journal and the South African Journal of Botany have the same editor-in-chief. Recently, I submitted a manuscript. The operation of this journal is not very sophisticated. Although the IF of the journal is rising, I feel that there is not much room for improvement re: this journal. First, speed (although the journal says it is improving the speed of review and publication); the second is that the current direction is not related to plant molecules.

Review speed: 2.0 | Submission hit rate: 95.0 Experience sharing: First, I submitted to Plant Cell Reports on July 2, 2019. This journal was very fast, and the submission was sent for review the next day. One month later, it was rejected and recommended for Plant Growth Regulation. I submitted to Plant Growth Regulation on August 9, 2019, and the review process was a bit slow. It took a month to find reviewers, and the feedback came back in October. The editor and reviewers were responsible, and only minor experimental adjustments were needed. The first revision was returned on October 29, but it took over a month for the second review. The feedback came back on December 31, saying received but incomplete. The main issue was the reference format, so after checking them one by one, I revised the second version on January 2, 2020, and it was formally accepted on January 8. Due to insufficient attention to detail in my first submission, the time was delayed due to formatting issues. I think this journal is good, with enough workload, and as long as the experimental results are clear, they usually get accepted. It is also important to respond well to reviewer comments, and if experiments cannot be redone, honesty and clarity are crucial

The article has been accepted. I will talk about my submission experience, hoping to help future authors. I carefully researched this journal and found that the probability of submission is not as high as previously mentioned, at only 20% instead of 40-50%. There are more than 500 submissions each year that can be assigned a D number, but the journal only publishes around 100 articles annually. My submission process was as follows: I submitted on September 11th, and the editor-in-chief invited an editor, but the first editor declined. I am very grateful to the editor-in-chief for finding a second editor for me, who seems to be a professor from Poland. It was not until the end of September that the manuscript was sent out for review. I originally expected results in early November, but on November 4th, the status changed to "Reviewers Assigned" (presumably because the previous reviewers' feedback was not received or they declined midway). After more than a month passed with no change in status, I anxiously inquired twice. Around December 7th, I received a request for minor revisions. The rest of the process went smoothly, but due to some personal matters, I delayed revising for a while. There were two rounds of revisions, both about formatting issues, and the manuscript was officially accepted on February 11th. Finally, I feel that the research content of this journal is expanding, which may be closely related to the knowledge background of the current editor-in-chief, Chen Zhonghua.
