More than a month after submitting the manuscript, it has been "under review". Inquiring about the status of the manuscript, the editor explained that the delay was due to difficulties in finding reviewers. I then asked if they wanted me to recommend other reviewers (which is a required item when submitting a manuscript). Their response was that they were still okay with the current reviewers. However, tragically, the next day, for no apparent reason, they rejected the manuscript. I don't know if it was a coincidence or if I somehow offended the editor with my Chinese way of thinking. Oh well, just sharing as a cautionary tale!
