To update, the submission was made on 29th April 2024 and has been with the editor since then. I have sent two emails inquiring about the status, and on 11th September 2024, the status changed to "Decision in Process". Then on 26th September 2024, it was suggested to transfer to another journal, with Heliyon being the first recommendation, which I declined. It has been close to 5 months, and they still haven't sent it for external review, which is frustrating.

I mistakenly thought that these results referred to the outcome of the first review, so I submitted my work quickly assuming it would be processed swiftly. However, it turns out that it takes around 1 month for the editors to provide feedback, and it is only after more than a month that they start seeking reviewers. The process is actually quite slow
