Submitted on March 12. Three days later, the first review informed me that it lack keywords. In fact, I typed the keywords, but the latex template was not displayed in the PDF generated. Finally, added keywords manually by force in the abstract. This is really a stupid template. On May 2, the editor-in-chief told me that my article was out of scope. I almost cried by this stupid journal. Why don't you say “out of scope” during the first review but ask me to fill up the keywords in a serious manner? Other journals’ notice only take less than a week, but it took nearly two months for you. Most importantly, I chose PRL because I read some articles related to speech processing on PRL, which I cited in my manuscript. Their manuscripts got accepted, and what did you mean by out of scope? If you editor-in-chief wanted to strictly pick words, I did use a lot of pattern analysis. Does it have to be voice recognition/classification to be considered as pattern analysis, and other related content not to? Then why all the image content of your journal are all considered as model analysis? Field discrimination? The research contents are agreed by Neurocomputing, but why is it not accepted in you PRL? Conclusion: silly template, extremely low review efficiency, metaphysics on journal scope. I wish the next meeting never comes and wish PRL a good luck.

Indeed, the journal's speed is okay, but the pool of reviewers may not be very good. The editor is quite responsible and has been inviting reviewers for two months now. Currently, there are 30 reviewers, but only one accepted the invitation until yesterday. However, the reviewer is very responsible and has already completed the review today. 

Anyway, at least two reviewers are needed to complete the review process. Students in a hurry need to consider whether they can accept the possibility of a long wait.
