I specially registered to comment here. It is a very rubbish journal. I submitted an article to JMIR in April. When I submitted the article, I indicated that I would not like to transfer it to other journals. The peer review started one week after submission. In June, I received the first review suggestion as "minor revision". I was very happy, followed the reviewer’s suggestion to revise it point by point and resubmitted the revision. The "minor revision" was required again on the third day. There was no news after the revision was submitted again. The manuscript was reminded on August 10, and the email notifying an acceptance was received that night, but without giving us a prior notice, they directly transferred it to a sub-journal of JMIR, which had a very low impact factor and a high publication fee. We are hesitating to withdraw the manuscript. This is a very unpleasant submission experience. It is my first time to comment. I hope that anyone else will not waste time, energy, or money on this rubbish journal.

I also suffered a loss, so I specially signed up to talk about this, to avoid you being deceived. Journal of Medical Internet Research (JMIR) is a very rubbish journal. We submitted an article to JMIR in May. When submitting, we indicated that we would not transfer it to other journals. It was into peer review in a week after submission. The revision suggestion of first review was received on July 20, “minor revision”. I happily revised the reviewers’ suggestions one by one and updated the reply. The notice of acceptance was received in August, but it was not accepted by JMIR, it was directly transferred to JMIR’s newly-launched sister journal without advance notice. (The editor offered free publication, but there was no impact factor.) It was no use rebutting. The editor directly ignored your emails and implemented a non-reply strategy. It can be said a very unpleasant submission experience of JMIR. So, I specially write my own experience to avoid more people wasting time, energy or money on this journal. (This journal pays a review fee of $90 when submitting.)

This magazine is pretty trashy, the submission experience is very poor. It is almost purely profit-driven. I submitted twice, both times the reviewers said it was acceptable, but the magazine rejected it and asked me to submit to their other non-IF magazines. Almost every magazine under their umbrella has the same few editors reviewing submissions. They can be said to have a small team but a lot of work. Each time I submitted, it took a very long time to receive a response. I have experienced delays of up to 7 months, only to be rejected without reason, claiming "the reviewers said it was fine, but our magazine is super good and you're not worthy" (they pretty much said something along those lines).
