Objectively speaking, most of the papers in this journal are still innovative, and of course there are some papers of better quality (making some progress on certain difficult issues). But as some comments said, some valueless papers still exist. I had reviewed manuscripts for the journal, and it can be seen that the editorial board still has requirements for quality, and clearly limits the review time. Some valueless papers can't even pass the editorial board. The editorial board is also stricter in reviewing papers in certain directions than before. (Just in terms of my research direction of function theory, but it is not very clear for the partial differential.) In addition, it is inappropriate to equate JMAA with other unqualified journals or some other journals in lower Q3.

Many years ago, when I was graduated, I had no choice but to publish one article here forcing by the quantitative assessment of scientific research. It seems that JMAA is with less value now? If you are a student, it is acceptable to learn the methods of others, raise a question and publish it here, practice your and learn how to write an article. But I know some people who are engaged in PDE, after graduating for many years, they still publish an article in JMAA or similar journals every year. Therefore, they will produce several valueless articles every year, even more than ten garbage articles! These people publish here every year, and it feels a bit too bad. With the absolute advantage of the number of articles, they may be able to get a job title and get a fund. However, year of year’s valueless articles will ruin both myself and the journal's reputation. And the key is that the impetuous academic atmosphere will have a bad influence on young people. A scholar should regard reputation as more important than money! I really don't know how their mentor had taught them.
