I submitted on the 4th of the month and received the peer reviews on July 27th. I re-submitted my revised version on September 27th and received the notice of acceptance on November 9th. AICHE is the most traditional and comprehensive journal in the chemical industry; IF=2.2. Although the impact factor is not high, this journal is highly valued by the chemical industry and publishes more than 200 articles per year. AICHE has strict requirements for their peer reviewers, and each manuscript generally must be reviewed twice. Thus, the review process is slower. My article was on reactionary thermodynamics of gas absorption. Before I submitted to AICHE, I submitted to JPCB. After I received reviews for major revisions, I ended up refusing to change some aspects of the manuscript, which led to rejection. The reason is that I only have model fitting in my manuscript and no theoretical calculations. After switching to Green Chemistry, I was directly rejected without any reviews. Clearly this experience was a bit frustrating. After a while I decided to submit to IECR. However, my advisor didn’t want me to settle for that journal, so he encourage me to submit to AICHE. I didn’t expect that, but it turned out great.
