IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging (TMI) and Medical Image Analysis (MIA) are currently the top 2 journals in medical imaging. TMI's quality control has become higher and higher in recent two years, and the number of manuscripts accepted is about half of TIP. The review speed is faster than TIP, but the rejection rate is higher than TIP. Especially in the past two years, most of the articles in TIP are from several large groups in China.

After receiving, there is a week to upload the final files; 
After uploading, sign the copyright transfer online, and the manuscript will be transferred to the IEEE publishing system; 
Once the transfer is complete, you will receive an email from the publishing house, and you can log in to the author gateway; 
The publishing house requires each author to log in to confirm their identity; 
The author gateway is mainly used to contact the corresponding author; 
Once the authors have confirmed, the editorial office will process the manuscript, contact the corresponding author for proofreading, annotate in the PDF, and answer any questions; 
Confirm the fees, choose between OA or traditional publishing, decide on donations, and check the required payment; 
After completion, the paper enters the final production stage; 
A few days later, there will be early access, but the paper is not the final version, it will be officially published later; 
The corresponding author's email will receive a mail from CCC to register and check the bill; 
Confirm the bill details, receive the invoice, and choose a suitable payment method; 
After payment, check the order status in the CCC system after a few days, seeing "paid" means the payment was successful; 
Being included in Web of Science and Scopus during early access is a good feature of TMI, as there is no need to wait for publication.
