Last year I published a long article here and submitted another one this year. I found out that when I submitted my manuscript, I had to firstly choose whether there is any paper published in this journal. Is it not allowed to submit too much to prevent unqualified publication? The increase of the impact factor this year is not good.

Update:
After 5 months of the first review, the paper was rejected. There were 2 reviewers, one provided some suggestions on writing and formatting, while the other recognized the contribution but suggested major revisions, including additional experiments and writing improvements. In total, there were 8 comments from the two reviewers, with no comments from the Associate Editor (AE), and the Editor-in-Chief (EIC) felt that the paper lacked innovation and therefore rejected it.
Sigh, the painful memories are resurfacing. It's really difficult to submit interdisciplinary research, breaking academic barriers is really tough.
