I currently major in robotics, and do some research on celestial navigation in amateur time. After 7 months of review, an independently signed article was finally published as a long article. This journal and Journal of Guidance, Control, and Dynamics are listed as the first echelon publications in the navigation and guidance section of aerospace and aviation. However, IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems focuses more on systems, so articles on communications, surveying and mapping, and overall design account for more than 70% of the published articles. As mentioned above, articles in this journal need top results and psychological preparation for protracted battles.

It is a professional journal in aerospace with high value, which is widely recognized in the industry. It is almost No.1 in the subdivision direction involving aerospace electronics systems, and related researchers from the International Aerospace Agency are fond of submitting articles to it. So, this journal is highly professional and influential. The disadvantage is the review cycle is a bit long, and there is always a 12-month review cycle. The overall feeling is that it is suitable for submission of research articles that have outstanding contributions but are not in a hurry to be published.

I usually submit manuscripts to IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems (TAES), the quality of manuscripts is mostly good. There may be 2, or 3, or even more reviewers. It depends on the editor. I submitted a manuscript to TAES before, major revision was given in the first review, and it was rejected in the second review. It took more than one year. Later, I transferred the manuscript to IEEE Trans. It took more than one year for the manuscript to be accepted. The characteristic of this journal is that it is extremely slow. The teachers and students around me who have published long articles on this journal; their review cycle was 1.5 to 3 years, whether they were major in control or navigation. So, you should be cautious when submitting manuscripts. There are not many two years to wait in life.
