Reviewed 2020-06-03 09:50:30 Review speed: 6.0 | Submission hit rate: 25.0 Emphasis on research direction: Genetics Experience sharing: Papers with low citation rates are not necessarily bad papers, some highly innovative papers may not be initially valued. The series of papers in Volume 106 to be published soon are worth thinking about, especially in relation to the outbreak of COVID-19. ADGEN 106: Cosmic Genetic Evolution Volume 106 On November 25, 2019, scientists from China, the UK, Australia, and Japan jointly published a paper in Current Science titled Space Weather and Pandemic Warnings?, explicitly stating that due to the lowest sunspot activity in nearly 100 years, global cosmic rays significantly increased. They urgently warned that new viruses are likely to emerge in the coming months and cause a pandemic, and public health authorities must be vigilant and take appropriate action. They issued an early warning, and the global pandemic of COVID-19 has verified the accuracy of this warning. In a letter to Current Science published in November 2019, we also explicitly reminded the world that new infective viruses are likely to emerge in the coming months during the lowest minimum of the sunspot cycle in over a hundred years, and that public health authorities must be vigilant and take necessary action. The emergence of the COVID-19, in our view, confirms this prediction and highlights the urgency of taking appropriate precautions without further prevarication ![]() ![]() |
