The editor required major revision, saying that the revised manuscript would send back to this reviewer, and one more reviewer would be found (I thought why didn’t you find 2 reviewers at once). It took three months to supplement the experiments (animal experiment was relatively time-consuming). The revised manuscript was submitted in early March. At that time, the pandemic was the most serious). I waited for nearly 2 months. The review comments were raised in early May (during the period, I sent an email to ask). The editor told me that the previous reviewer cannot continue to review due to the pandemic (dead?). Therefore, another reviewer was found. That is, there were 3 reviewers in total. However, the comments of the second review were easy to revise. As stated on their website, the editors of the journal require reviewers to arrange as few supplementary experiments as possible without lowering the standards, and to adopt the way of revising text for review. The editor required major revision again. But in fact, the second revision took me less than 20 days. Due to the other reasons of the laboratory, it was delayed and the revised manuscript was not submitted until September 5 (I also applied for an extension). Half a month later, I received the acceptance email on September 20. Generally speaking, the speed of the journal was good, the editor was relatively kind, and the reviewers' comments were very pertinent. Although it took nearly 10 months from submission to acceptance; during the period, there were reasons for the pandemic and some reasons for our laboratory. If there were no such problems, I estimate it would be about 4 to 5 months in total. After all, the pandemic does not happen every year.
