It lasted nearly 7 months, and we got the reply only after my supervisor sent an email to urge it. It was estimated that there were so many papers that the editor in chief has forgotten ours. In the first round, there were a total of 5 reviewers, with 2 rejection, 1 rejection and resubmission, 1 minor revision, 1 major revision, and finally the editor-in-chief gave us 1 month to revise. There were about 50 revisions in total. We revised and replied one by one in early April. On August 18, 2020, the second round of comments were received, and the editor-in-chief accepted it. It was revised according to the comments and resubmitted within two weeks. It lasted for nearly one year, and I don’t know if there’s anyone whose review period is as long as mine...

Reviewer comments are worthy of the impact factor. The revision process was too torturous. Eight reviewers, and four rounds of revision, and it finally got accepted. R1. At the end of July 18th, the paper was submitted through the mailbox. The submission requirements are rather strange. Two lists were provided. You must choose those who are very compatible with the specific research field, because I feel that the editor directly selects the reviewers from who you suggested. R2. At the end of August 2018, the first review comments returned. 8 reviewers, two rejected it, two refuse to review, four required major revisions, more than 90 review comments. We revised it for more than a month, and resubmitted it with more than 10,000 words of response letter in mid-October. R3. The second review opinions returned at the end of November. 5 reviewers required minor revisions, two required additional experiments, and one rejected it. R4. The third review opinions returned in February 2019. 7 reviewers accepted it, and one still rejected it, but the various reasons given were very strange, basically unreasonable. R5. After making a slight modification in the fourth round, I sent an email directly to the editor. In April 19, the editor decided to accept it directly. Fortunately, the paper was accepted, otherwise I will be crashed.

This journal provides expert reviews that are very professional. In my opinion, this journal is worthy of its impact factor, but it is difficult to submit and have your paper accepted. The only downside is that the editor has always asked me and my lab group to cite his personal publications… so the journal's self-citation rate is a bit high. From what I can remember, I received reviews after 4 months from 5 peer reviewers. The overall opinion was “Declined but encouraged to revise and submit”. More than 60 thoughtful comments were provided by the reviewers - all very targeted and professional. Anyways, the reviews helped the article significantly and we resubmitted our revised manuscript. After review, the overall opinion was "Tentatively approved, subject to proposed revisions". After the third round of revisions, our paper was accepted.

The second submission was made on March 17th. The first round of comments was received on March 31st, with a total of 5 reviewers - one rejection and 4 acceptance after revision. The revised manuscript was resubmitted on April 3rd and April 17th, with 4 acceptances and one rejection. The final revised version was resubmitted on April 24th and accepted after revision on May 17th.

On December 19, 2024, the article was submitted, and the editor-in-chief notified it for review on the same day.
