The paper submitted in mid-November entered Under Review in less than a week after submission. After waiting for two months without any update, I sent an email to inquire about the status. The editor replied, "It has been sent for external review, but due to the inability to find suitable reviewers (reviewers were recommended at the time of submission), the review process has been delayed." After waiting for another two months, the paper was rejected with no constructive feedback in the rejection email, just a simple statement that the paper was not suitable for publication. Overall, the quality of the journal is okay, it is indexed in SSCI Tier 2, but the efficiency of manuscript handling is very low and it wastes a lot of authors' time!

When I submitted it before, "under review" means it is in the hands of the editor. After three months, it was rejected without being reviewed.

Posted on August 23, 2022, it became "under review" the next day.
On October 1, I inquired about the status of the manuscript with the journal, and the editor informed me that the editor-in-chief is handling it and the AE (Associate Editor) has not been assigned yet. "Under review" in this journal is equivalent to "With editor" in usual terms.
On November 7, 2022, it was rejected with the reason that it is not suitable for this journal. They sure took their time.

I am a management college professor and published a research paper in the field of urban economics in Growth and Change journal.

Submission timeline:
Submitted on October 15, 2020 (seems like it was under review in a few days)
Major revision on November 30, 2020 (6 months) (two external reviewers provided about 15 comments, the first reviewer gave 10 comments)
Revised on May 25, 2021 (6000-word response)
Accepted two months later.

The editor and editor assistant were very nice and actively responded to and resolved all the issues.
