The newly published SCI journal "Heliyon" obtained its first impact factor in 21 years. In just three years, the number of articles published has tripled, exceeding 10,000. A warning: as of April 23, 2025, the journal is still in the SCIE journal "On Hold" status.

The main reason for the journal's frantic submission of manuscripts in the past year or two may be that it is at risk of not being included in the SCI database. In fact, it would be wise to reduce the total number of articles published each year.

In recent months, in order to continue being included in the SCI database or remove the "on hold" status, a large number of manuscripts have been deliberately withdrawn. Even the act of "inserting references" is considered a reason (some of which were promptly signed by the editors with an AUTHORSHIP CHANGE FORM). This deliberate behavior is too much, so stay away from this journal.

Thank you for your kindness. I just entered the lab in July and started planning my article (my supervisor didn't care). I submitted to this journal, and a month later it was rejected. I was really angry. Then I was sad for a long time, but then I found out it was put on hold. I really appreciate this unexpected kindness. Then I casually submitted to another prestigious journal, and it was published directly. Haha. Well, I just have a degree in hydrology, and I don't have much academic pursuit.

26th accepted, 28th on hold. They won't let us withdraw the manuscript even if the sky falls, and they keep delaying payment. Now we don't know what to do.

Trash magazine, purely a waste of time! Submitted on February 5, 2024, for multi-center clinical sample proteomics testing.
Minor revisions given on February 23, 2024.
Submitted on March 4, 2024. Required review completed on April 21, 2024.
Started inviting reviewers again on April 24, 2024?!! Then began the long process of inviting reviewers, making revisions, and inviting reviewers again.
Every time inviting new reviewers!! I am speechless.
After three rounds of revisions by January 23, 2025, I was given new reviewer comments in the 4th round, and the editor directly rejected me?!! WTF!!!
Wasted a year, and it was even on hold in between! Couldn't even withdraw.

The boss upstairs doesn't understand you, but I do. I'm just a small fry too. After being accepted by ACCESS, the journal was put on alert by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. After being accepted by MPE, the journal was put on hold, then kicked, and the journal disappeared. Heliyon was indexed, but also put on hold.
