After returning, the second review lasted for about 5 weeks, and it was accepted directly. The review cycle was indeed a bit long. I don't know if it is because of strictness or low efficiency or the impact of the current epidemic. 2. MD has been completely OA (open source) since 2019 January, and the open access fee is $2,000. I think the open source of MD is to embrace the future, and the number of manuscripts has been continuously reduced in the past three years. It is also to control the quality of articles and enhance the reputation of the journal. Hope MD can take advantage of OA to surpass Acta in the near future. If you feel that your article is innovative and scientific enough, you can try to submit to MD when it is not affected by time, economy and other objective factors.
