They should have found more than four or five reviewers, but none of them agreed to review the manuscript. About forty days later, the first reviewer was found, and we had been waiting for it since then. On January 14, notification of revision was received. Only one reviewer (from India) was found, and there should be no others. Okay, that’s fine. What I do is about experiments and simulations. Simulation is the main thing. The problem the reviewer raised did not involve too much model itself. It is just about six or seven opinions that we should introduce something here and there, state something more clearly, and hope us to cite some references. It was sent back around January 20; preliminarily accepted on January 29; officially accepted on January 30; available online (OA, accepted version) on January 31; The publication fee was paid with a MasterCard or Visa credit card on February 3, which is equivalent to about RMB 7,000; final check in an online modification system on February 5; the checking was completed on February 7. And now we are waiting for the publication. It has not been published yet, but it should be available soon.

A total of two articles. The first article: July 30, submission. August 30, review comments received. Two reviewers, one with 5 questions, the other one with 15 questions. They were not difficult to answer. September 12, submitted the revised manuscript. September 19, I was notified that the Word version was not submitted, then it was submitted the same day. September 20, we signed the copyright agreement and it was sent for review the same day. The result is unknown so far. Based on past experience, comments usually return in one or two weeks. I was very tired during the waiting period. The second article: July 30, submission. During the period, only one reviewer was invited successfully. I sent an email to ask for the manuscript and was informed that he was looking for another reviewer; September 25, the second reviewer agreed to review the manuscript, and I have been waiting for almost two months… I am praying that the both articles will be accepted!

It was submitted to Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry on June 11 2019. It was rejected by the editor and transferred to Materials Research Express on June 13 2019. The status “transferred in” lasted 12 days, so I sent the email and urged it. I sent the email and urged it on June 15 2019. On the same day, the status changed into “manuscript received”. 2018.04.25 submitted, 2018.04.30 sent to reviewers, 2018.05.30 returned for revision, 2018.06.08 submitted revised manuscript, 2018.07.03 returned for revision again, 2018.07.11 submit the revised manuscript again, 2018.07.18 sent to reviewers, 2018.07.29 returned for minor revision, 2018.08.01 sent to reviewers, 2018.08.02 tentatively accepted, 2018.08.06 officially accepted. Overall it took more than three months. The editorial office worked efficiently, basically no delay. It mostly depends on the reviewers. In my case, the reviewers took one month to reply. I knew some other students who submitted here and only revised the paper once. In their cases, the papers were accepted after a month and a half.

Submission experience: 1. The submission system is somewhat outdated. When the teacher reminds you that there is missing material, try refreshing the network multiple times, and you will find that the material has actually been uploaded.
2. After acceptance, the editor asked for a copyright transfer agreement and mentioned that it could be downloaded from the author center. However, there was no download path in the author center (neither me nor my teacher could find it), so I had to explain the situation to the editor and request an electronic copy. The editor was kind enough to send it.
3. There may be a discrepancy in the submission of publication fees. When I received the official acceptance email, there was no email regarding the submission of publication fees. Based on the experiences of senior students, they mentioned that an email about the publication fees would be sent, as electronic invoices are needed. After waiting for more than two weeks without receiving the email, I had to send an inquiry email to finally receive the invoice. Due to being busy, I postponed going to the bank to make the payment for a week (thinking that it was acceptable since the payment is usually required within 30 days after receiving the invoice). However, in the second week after receiving the invoice, I received a reminder email about the overdue payment, stating that my publication fees had been delayed for a week. Upon checking the invoice, it showed that it was issued the day after the formal acceptance of the paper, indicating that the invoice had been prepared but not sent to me. Thankfully, the editor did not make things difficult for me even though the payment was overdue by a month. After making the payment, I just had to reply to an email as requested.
I hope this information can help those who are currently submitting papers and alleviate the anxiety of students awaiting graduation.
