Hematology is an international open access journal publishing original and review articles in the field of general hematology (haematology). Hematology is the Official Journal of the International Society of Hematology.

The journal aims to bridge the interests and practices of those carrying out laboratory work and those working in patient care, emphasizing the clinical aspects of published material.

Hematology also publishes interdisciplinary areas of research related to general hematology, including:
• Oncology

• Pathology

• Biology

• Clinical cancer research

• Epidemiology

• Thalassemias and leukemias


In the fixed sections of the journal, annotations are accepted on any general scientific field. This includes technical annotations covering current laboratory practice in general hematology; blood transfusion and clinical trials; and current clinical practice reviews of care and management.

Hematology publishes original research articles, narrative reviews, systematic literature reviews, rapid communications and technical notes.

The journal operates a double-anonymized peer review policy.

All articles will be made freely and permanently available online through gold open access publication.
