It is an open-access journal of the Ecological Society of America. The overall quality should be good. I previously submitted to Ecological Applications. It took more than 2 months for the review. The review comments were ordinary, but the editor rejected it directly, and suggested transferring it to Ecosphere. I had no choice but transferred it, because the time is limited. I revised it according to the original comments and returned it, and it was accepted in 3 days. Therefore, this journal accepted the manuscript with a short submission date, and the editor is the editor-in-chief. It is likely that the articles are transferred from journals of the Ecological Society, which rejected them.

It’s not cheap now. $1750 for non-member, and $1,500 for member. The Ecological Society of America is proficient in making money.

It has been a long time since I last commented, but I have some free time recently. Overall, I feel that the journal is good, the review speed is acceptable, and the editors are friendly, but the time from submission to publication is a bit slow. 

I saw an article that was well written and decided to submit it, but unfortunately, when I submitted in 2023, it was in the second tier. By the end of the year, it was downgraded to the third tier. I hope that by the end of 2024, it can be upgraded to a higher tier. 

I hope that "Ecosphere" will continue to improve in the future.

From submission to acceptance, it took a total of 9 months.
The submission was made in October.
It took nearly three months to find an external reviewer during which no pressure was applied. Two months later, after minor revisions, the paper was directly accepted.
Proofreading took an additional 2 months due to personal delays caused by a business trip.
The paper was officially published in September of the following year.
