Plant and Soil receive far more manuscripts (~3400 in 2019 to 2020) than we can possibly publish, and we can only accept less than 20% of all the submissions. We accept only those that are most novel, conceptually stimulating, and of interest to a general audience. We thus reject a large proportion of submitted manuscripts, many without review.

An article was accepted at the beginning of 2019. Generally speaking, the review speed was very fast. The first review provided 3 review comments, and the opinions are quite comprehensive. Minor revisions were made after second review, and then it got accept. I submitted another one to LDD again at the end of 2019, but I waited for 3 months with nothing. I asked about the situation by email, and they said that the reviewers were too busy, and then rejected it. I saw that similar articles published in the same period were quite fast. I think what netizens said is right. Whether it can be accepted by LDD or not mainly depends on whether you know the people there or not. If you know someone, it will be quick, otherwise... At the beginning of this year, I submitted another article to Plant and Soil. It is still very fast and is now under review. I hope it a good luck. I wish everyone a smooth experiment in 2020 and all papers can be published.

I do research on stable isotope tracer; the editor gave major revision twice. There were 4 reviewers invited in total after revising the manuscript subversively twice. When the final revision was submitted, reviewer 2 required to supplement more verification of the C distribution hypothesis, and asked to verify three relevant mainstream hypotheses. But the reviewer 4 requires that none of the hypotheses be verified, just remove them. It was rejected just like this, but it was welcomed to be resubmitted. I have finished the revision, but I am confused, and I don't know if I should resubmit it.
