From November last year to now, an article has been submitted. Two articles have been accepted successfully; one article was accepted directly after minor revision, and another one was required to make major revision (all were very objective professional opinions). I carefully revised a week, and wrote a 7-page response. It was under review again after submission. One week later, I received the accepted email before the submission system changed from EES to EM. The process of another rejected article was relatively tortuous. After the first submission, it was assigned to the editor of the corresponding direction. The result of the first review was that the language was not good enough, and it would be reconsidered after polishing. I spent money and have it polished, and resubmitted it in more than 10 days. It was rejected directly by the editor-in-chief. In general, the editor of LWT was responsible and the processing efficiency was high. The reviewers met were very professional, who didn’t delay. Judging from the number of manuscripts, the number of submissions this year has skyrocketed, reaching more than 4,000 in mid-July. It is estimated that the number of annual submissions will exceed 7,000. The requirements for the quality of articles will be higher, and it is estimate that the difficulty will increase. Come on!

I was going to stop thinking about it, but the more you look at the reviewer’s comments, the more irritating you are. 2019.11.23, submission. The editors of Food Chemistry and food Research International recommended to transfer to this journal. The status of under review lasted more than 6 months, and there was no reply; 2020.06.10, I sent the email and ask the situation, and I was replied that there was only one reviewer invited, and another one had accepted the invitation; 2020.06.12, I was replied that the comments of the reviewers may be conflicting; 2020.06.13, rejected. I waited for more than 6 months. The comments of the first reviewers were pertinent, and I knew how to reply. The editor of this journal didn’t urge the reviewers daily, but he urged as soon as I asked. And then, the second reviewer gave the reply even without reviewing my introduction, which was extremely ridiculous. (The editor of) LWT, you should either contact the reviewer as soon as possible, or don't urge as soon as I urge, and the reviewer makes comments vaguely. It wasted 7 months, and the application was delayed. Fuck!

The review process took about 9 months, with major and minor revisions needed. In the end one of the reviewers was not satisfied with our revisions and thought the paper needed to be rewritten. The article was rejected.

Submitted on April 2, reviewed on April 4, just in time for the holiday. However, compared to other journals, LWT is indeed very fast in reviewing. Most articles are reviewed within a day, which may be related to the research direction. Several of mine were under review the same day, with 11 invitations and 3 acceptances. Two reviewers completed their reviews on April 15, with the editor issuing a direct RRC, then a Major revision. One had no objections, while the other made a few symbolic suggestions and added a few references. The decision was returned on April 29, with one reviewer completing their review in 6 days while the other refused to review for an entire month. Finally, the editor accepted the article on May 30, after experiencing three holidays, which would be unimaginable for a domestic editor. In summary, as long as your article has no major issues and some innovative points, as long as the editor sees potential, there should be no problem. A good editor is truly important, as encountering an irresponsible editor could prolong the process significantly. Just for reference, another article was reviewed within a few days, but two reviewers disappeared. The editor then sent it to over twenty more reviewers, totaling over forty. Two accepted with no objections, one raised structural issues, leading to a disagreement and continued review for over three months, resulting in around 4-5 months including R1 and R2. Each reviewer has their own interpretation of the same article, some may find certain issues insignificant while others are more meticulous, but ultimately, it is up to the editor. Luck plays a crucial role in this process, depending on the type of reviewers and editor you encounter.

After eight months and four major revisions, I was rejected. The last two revisions were mainly rejected by the editor without even being sent for review. They kept finding faults and even asked questions that had already been addressed in the previous revision. In the end, it was rejected without any reason given. I don't understand why they made me revise so many times if they didn't want to accept it.
