The result of the first review returned in 45 days. There was no big problem. After delayed for a month, it was submitted again. They said that there was a term that was controversial. I revised it and it took me three or four days to submit it again. Then it was sent for review for half a month, and accepted in 4 days. It took about three months in total.

I submitted the manuscript on January 24, 2019. The first review result came back on February 7. It took 4 months to make up the experiment. The revised version was returned on July 9. On July 16, I received the notification that manuscript will be acceptable. Two months were given to make up the experiment. The revision was submitted on September 1, and it was accepted on September 16. It was online on October 24. The journal impressed me at the following points: 1. The first review charged $50, and the final publication fee was very expensive. It costed 20,000–30,000 in total. 2. The reviewers were very strict and all the original data of western blot must be provided. 3. The review speed was very fast!

It took one and a half week for the first review after submission, and 60 days was given for the revision. It took 40 days to supplement experiments, and I submitted it after editing the language. So far everything was still normal, but it took 3 months for the second review. During the period, I sent 5 inquiry letters, but only the second one was replied by the editor. Waiting made me anxious. It took 6 months from submission to final acceptance. It was so slow.

Starting from January 1, 2022, authors who do not choose Open Access will be required to pay a flat page charge fee for each article (replacing the previous fee per page charge). The first contact with Faseb Journal, overall feeling the reviewers were very professional, they even conducted additional experiments. The manuscript was submitted on January 23, 2025 and accepted on May 28, taking a total of four months and five days. The only regret is that Faseb Journal is no longer listed as a top journal in the second zone.

When on May 25, the review process showed "Full version manuscript accepted for publication", it was exciting. However, the current status was under consideration, which was confusing. I wrote an inquiry and the editor replied very nicely, saying "...Your manuscript is tentatively accepted. It is going through the image screening process. Once that is cleared you will receive a final decision." Three days after the image review on May 28 late night (Beijing time 22:08), the acceptance letter was received. The letter mentioned that the proofreading email would be received in about 5-7 working days, and it must be completed within 3 working days.

The paper was published on 24.11.30, and on 24.12.03, I received an invoice from Wiley for a layout fee of $2940 for the traditional subscription model (non-OA). I checked the author's guide on the official website and indeed, even for non-OA, a layout fee is required. The price listed on the website for 2024 is $3100, which does not match the amount in the email. Has anyone else encountered this situation?

Thank you very much to my editor and reviewers. For this journal submission, you can choose the editor that you think would be most suitable for your paper. When I submitted my paper nearly a month ago, I emailed the editor in charge to inquire about the status of my manuscript. She replied that they were still looking for a second reviewer and would provide feedback once they had enough comments. After a week, the feedback came back, and the editor personally acted as the second reviewer to provide comments (mostly minor issues). It was then that I found out I only had one reviewer, and the editor requested major revisions.

A month later, after conducting additional experiments, I resubmitted the manuscript. Both the editor and reviewer handled the process very quickly, with the submission being processed almost immediately - submitted today, processed the next day. The reviewer raised one minor issue, which the editor approved for minor revisions.

I spent the weekend revising the manuscript and resubmitted it. The next day, the editor processed it, the reviewer completed the re-review without issues, and the editor accepted the paper, sending an acceptance email the following day.

The overall submission process was very comfortable, with the editor and reviewers working at a rapid pace (details can be seen in the images). I would be happy to continue submitting to this journal in the future. Thank you to the responsible editor and kind-hearted reviewer.
