I submitted my article a week ago, but there has been no response so far. In the past, the old system allowed us to see the process of the manuscript going to the editorial department, editor-in-chief, associate editor, and then for review. Now, all of these statuses are gone. The neighboring EST WATER editorial department still sends emails to authors regarding the assignment of associate editors, but I don't know if EST will change their process. If you want to check the status of a journal submission, ScienceDirect is more understanding of Chinese habits as they have activated a WeChat reminder function, although there may be some delays in status updates. I suggest that ACS should also consider implementing this feature.
