EI was a good journal before, but after changing to an OA journal, it has become a tool for collecting money, and the level of articles has taken a sharp turn for the worse. I submitted a work this year, and the editor rejected the manuscript based on the opinion of a reviewer. The reviewer they found was extremely unprofessional and did not understand the research field of the article. I made an argument about the review comments and sent them to the editor, Thanh Nguyen from UIUC. The editor rejected my argument and educates me about what it is like in the industry with a strong tone. I checked the academic level of this person via Google Scholar, who is far worse than me. How could he have the face to educate me? In the field of environmental science, if you have good results and it is inferior to EST and WR, it is recommended to firstly submit to CEJ, JHM, etc., and do not submit to EI. The journal level and reputation have become worse and worse, and it will become a journal as SR or PLOS ONE. If you really want to waste your money, you must avoid the editor, Thanh Nguyen.

It is an article about drug resistance. 2019.09.13, submission; 2019.12.09 (3 months), the (editor of) journal replied, 2 months was given for major revision. The reviewer asked many professional questions, and I replied carefully according to the reviewers’ request (16 pages of responses); 2020.02.07, the revision was submitted to the journal; 2020.02.22, the (editor of) journal replied and suggested it should be accepted if minor revision would be made according to the requirements of the reviewers; 2020.02.29, after submitting the minor revision to the journal at 8:30 PM, the email was received at 11:30 PM. In general, the reviewers found by the journal were relatively professional. However, time was wasted when looking for reviewers, and the processes after the review were all relatively fast. So, if you are fortunate that the reviewers can be found quickly, your article will be processed much faster. When responding to reviewers’ questions, the more careful the better. Later, when the reviewer responded to my revised manuscript, he said that the replies were very good and detailed (the original text: Impressively detailed and informative responses). So, once it is sent for review, there is a chance, but you must reply to every question of the reviewer carefully. In addition, the language requirements are relatively high. May you good luck!
