The efficiency of Bioresource Technology was really high. Basically, except in the under-review period, the status was updated every day. It took more than one month in total. The article was assigned to the editor-in-chief, who was nice. Comments from three experts were returned, and the editor gave 20 days for the major revision, and I feel the time was a little bit short. More than 40 pages of reply was returned. Some comments were very constructive, which hit the nail on the head. The following is the specific process of submission, and I hope it will be helpful to everyone: 2020.7.23, submitted to journal; 7.24, with editor; 7.25, under review (about this time); 7.28, under review, the time of status changed; 8.13, required reviews completed; 8.14, major revision; 9.1, the revised manuscript was submitted. Submission needing revision, revision being processed; 9.2, with editor; 9.4, re-revision; 9.6, re-revision being processed; 9.7, with editor; 9.8, accept.

After submitted to CEJ, Carbon and JHM, it was rejected. But BT gave me the last hope. The main submission process is as follows: 2019.06.24: Submitted to journal; 2019.06.25: With editor; 2019.07.01: Under review; 2019.07.21: Decision in Process; 2019.07.22: Minor revision; 2019.08.21: Revision Submitted to Journal; 2019.08.24: Re-Revision; 2019.09.07: Revision Submitted to Journal; 2019.09.12: Accept. The whole process takes about 2 and a half months, and the rejection rate is about 80%. The instant IF is 7.29 (2020.01.31). The IF is expected to be between 7.5 and 8 in June. I hope BT will do better. The submission to BT has specific formats, such as only one corresponding author, etc., which need to be strictly in accordance with the author guidelines. There are also two concerns. 1) Although it required only a minor revision, there were a lot of questions to be answered, and I was worried about any careless mistakes. But it didn’t seem to be returned to the reviewers again; 2) BT’s self-citations exceed 20%, and there is no requirement to add self-citations during the submission process. I hope everyone will pay attention to it when submitting papers.

It was under editor evaluation four times. At the first time, it should be that the returned comments of the two reviewers reached the minimum evaluation standard. Due to insufficient comments, comments of one reviewer returned at a time later. There were 5 reviewers, one of them made no comment. There were 40 comments in total, which were all positive. The editor required major revision, and the speed was fast. It was relatively slow for my own reason. There were only three comments after the second revision and submission, and it was accepted on the next day. During the period, there was an episode. I received the invitation and became the reviewer of Bioresource Technology the day before receiving the comments of first review. It was my first submission to Bioresource Technology, and the article was still under review, so it was quite unexpected.
